Everything You Need to Know About Learning to Drive with GoGoGo
Whether you’ve just signed up to take the intensive driving course in Peterborough or you’re considering learning with us, we have everything you need to know right here, including what your schedule will look like and why you should learn to drive with us.
What’s the schedule?
Our course runs Monday through Friday: 09:30 am to 16:30 pm. Course time may be adjusted if your instructor has a test; however, these hours will not be lost.
Your daily timetable (Monday–Thursday) *
09:00 am – 10:00 am: You will be in the classroom covering theory.
10:00 am – 12:00 pm: Driving practice with a 30-min lunch break (We recommend bringing your own lunch).
12:30 pm – 14:30 pm: You will be back out driving.
14:30 pm – 16:30 pm: Back in the classroom studying theory related elements.
*Course times may be adjusted depending on whether your instructor is at a test with another student.
Your week-long course is split into two parts:
Theory practice
Learning to drive is not all about getting behind the wheel. Knowing the Highway Code and the rules of the road is a must for all learner drivers. Our engaging tutors will get you up to speed and give you all the tips you need to pass the theory test.
Practical driving
You will have a total of 20 hours of driving within the week. This will give you the opportunity to learn how to drive to the standard required to pass your test. We’ll start with the basics before introducing some of the manoeuvres, such as bay and parallel parking.
Your tutor will also run through the ‘Show Me, Tell Me’ questions, so when your examiner asks you to demonstrate something, such as whether there is a sufficient amount of oil, you’ll be able to do so without hesitation. This will also help you understand the mechanics and general maintenance that come with owning a car.
Friday: Theory test and mock practical test
On Friday, you will take your theory test at the Peterborough theory test centre. This will include multiple-choice questions that test your knowledge of the Highway Code and hazard perception.
In the afternoon, your instructors may decide you are ready for a mock driving test. If you pass your mock test, we can then get you signed off as test ready. Once your test has been paid for, we’ll find a suitable test date for you.
Please bear in mind that your instructor will not carry out a mock test if they believe you are not yet at test standard.
At the close of play Friday, if you are not quite up to test standard, we will put in place a programme with your instructor for the “extra lessons” to get you up to test level. These lessons are available to you at a GoGoGo discounted rate of £35 per hour.
Frequently Asked Questions
There are two main reasons why they would not carry out a mock test:
- Allowing you to try a mock test if you are not ready could result in you losing the confidence that we have built up during the week.
- This hour would be better spent working on the areas that could bring you closer to test standard.
Remember, like everything in life, we all learn at different paces with some pupils picking up driving naturally while for others it can be more taxing.
If you have not driven before, we always recommend getting some experience behind the wheel before starting the course. This will help build your confidence and put you in a stronger position to progress quicker during the week. We recommend between 4 – 8 hours if possible. However, the more driving you can do, the better! This will increase your chances of being test-ready at the end.
If you have already completed your theory, the timetable and course layout will be exactly the same, as we will still expect to get your theory scores to over 90%. This way when we get you test ready for your practical test you will be fully refreshed on your theory and will not be caught out by that sign or difficult road layout.
If you haven’t already, go ahead and book your course with us!
